Well,I'm Jewish and I can take a joke,even one in rather poor taste. Of course it is evident the question was intended as a mere jest; it's obvious to me. As to the responses,they are what you would expect from religious Jews (which I am not); I don't think too many secular Jews would have this kind of hot-tempered response. But this is R&S and most of the Jews on it are going to be religious - probably Conservative or Orthodox. They are hyper-sensitive to any slight,real or imagined - I would know - and that is the origin of the stereotype of the hypersensitive Jew. It isn't true of Jewish people in general - and probably most of us are non-religious - but the further out you get the more extreme the views,as I suppose with any religion. Many religious Jews do buy into that Jewish superman bit,derived of course from the concept that we are God's Chosen People. So they flame out at even the most tepid criticism or kidding. Taken as a joke I find your question inoffensive enough,but as humor goes - it's a bit of a "groaner" as Johnny Carson used to call bad jokes. I'm curious - are you trying to prove a point with such questions? Are you perhaps annoyed with this sort of semi-taboo on criticising Jews?
