Game Developers Unleash A Storm On 'World Of Warcraft' Players Not a drop of rain had fallen in Feralas during the year and a half that the virtual forest existed бк until last week, when there was finally a chance of showers. Weather was at last introduced to Feralas, and the rest of "World of Warcraft," by game developers. Rain and other inclement weather had been promised to the millions who play "World of Warcraft" since the massively multiplayer online PC game's launch in November 2004. A rotating team of developers at Blizzard Entertainment actually worked on creating a weather system for five years. Only last week, however, did the game's developers find a way to patch it into the game in a way the meets their expectations бк and that they hope will meet fans' as well. In the course of preparing that weather, developers have to make decisions about what video game weather should actually be. Should it just be something to look at or should it have an impact? When should it rain and where? And if game designers could decide the time and date of a rainstorm, should they? "Coming up with the weather maplestory system for a world is fun," said Jeff Kaplan, 33, lead designer at Blizzard Entertainment's Irvine, California, headquarters, where the real-life lack of precipitation resembles the old weather-free version of his game. The falling-from-the-sky possibilities are broad when you're designing weather for a video game. "We've talked about how cool would it be when you killed the blood god, that it rains blood." Blood storms aside, Kaplan said that Blizzard is wow goldapproaching the change in climate modestly. Last week, three types of weather were introduced to "WoW": rainstorms, sandstorms and snowstorms. They have a chance of occurring in just 11 of the game's 40-plus realms and will crop up with a frequency that has been designed to err on the side of too little. Inclement weather is by no buy wow goldmeans new to video games. Rain fell in the opening moments of 1991's "Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past." It falls regularly during the ever-flowing day and night cycles of the recent "Grand Theft Auto" games. Even among massively multiplayer games, "WoW" has forerunners, including "Final Fantasy XI," where each day (lasting about an hour in real life) can bring storms, and in "EverQuest," in which some characters have the power to repel the weather. But what "WoW" lacks in innovation, Kaplan thinks it may make up for world of warcraft gold in immersive authenticity, mostly thanks to the fact that a day in his game matches the pace of a day in the real world. "Rainstorms can last three to four hours," he said. Duration will be chosen based on an automated system as well, with enough variables to make things unpredictable. Currently weather is isolated to just one zone at a time, but "WoW" designers are well-versed in creating global wars and holiday-themed happenings. New Alien Arena 6.10 blows away its FPS competition Today, COR Entertainment is scheduled to release version 6.10 of Alien Arena 2007, the popular free software, 3-D, first-person shooter built atop id Software's Quake II engine, which was released under the GPL in 2001. The new release of Alien Arena comes with seven new arenas, a better arsenal of weaponry, and a new game mode for one-on-one duels. If you're a gamer but not familiar with Alien Arena, think of Quake III or Unreal Tournament and maplestory mesosyou won't be far off the mark. If you're not familiar with those icons of the first-person shooter genre, think massive, sustained, unrelenting, ankle-deep-in-blood, kill-or-be-killed carnage which can be enjoyed solo, just you against the bots on your PC, or, if your taste in killing tends toward living targets, in multiplayer mode on a network server. Alien Arena is a 3-D game, so to try it you'll need hardware support for 3-D acceleration. You'll also need, at a minimum, a 1GHz processor, 256MB of memory, and 500MB of available disk space. Downloads for both Windows and Linux versions of the game are available at a number of sites. Running a server Select HOST SERVER on the main screen if you want a href="http://www.wowmoney.eu/">world of warcraftto run an Alien Arena server. You'll get a GUI screen that allows you to assign all the options, including the server name, map, game mode rules, and other items. To install the game, unzip the download file, which contains both executables and source code. At the command line, change to the alienarena2007 subdirectory created when you unzip the download, and enter ./crx to start the client, or ./crded to start a dedicated server. To display Alien Arena's console in the top half of the GUI, press the tilde (~) key. I used the console the first time I started the game to set my name with the command NAME WARTZILLA. To close the console, press the Esc key. By default, you are in full-screen mode at 1024x768 resolution. To change that, highlight VIDEO OPTIONS and press Enter. There are also options to set brightness and display options, which may impact your performance in terms of frames per second in game play. Unlike the GAME OPTIONS, changes to video require you to explicitly apply the changes when you're done, or they won't stick. Once you have customized everything to your liking, a href="http://www.wowmoney.eu/">world of warcraftyou're ready to play. You can play in SINGLE PLAYER mode, select JOIN SERVER for a multiplayer game, or start your own dedicated server. EASY is the default, but it's not really all that easy. The bots are quite capable of sending you to eternity, even at the easy level. You may also want to use SINGLE PLAYER mode to explore the many maps available as playgrounds. I count 43 maps in the SVN version of the game I downloaded and built the day prior to release. Each map combines a mode of play -- Death Match, Capture the Flag, All Out Assault, and so on -- with an arena, such as Atlantis, Omega, or Babel. There are 22 maps available for Death Match play, for example. You can change maps at the console with the MAP MAP-NAME command. Selecting JOIN SERVER at the initial screen brings up the screen shown here. It's probably a good idea to select REFRESH LIST and press Enter before proceeding, to ensure that only currently active servers are displayed. Click on any of the servers listed to see information about the server and the players on it. When you find a server you want -- the USA Beginner Team is a good place to hone your multiplayer skills -- highlight it using the arrow keys, then press Enter. The default game mode is the Death Match, where it is every player for himself. The rules are simple: kill everyone else and cheap wow goldavoid being killed. Other game modes include Capture the Flag, All Out Assault, Deathball, Team Core Assault, and the newest one, Duel. In Capture the Flag, you must steal the other team's flag and bring it back to your team's base. The team with the most captures wins. World of Warcraft иC Noobie Files иC Day 5 The next day (when my wife would finally let me back on) Mean Bob, surrounded by dead cats and hogs and full of prized loot gotten off of these incapacitated critters, went back to the Conservator. Once again the nice elf proceeded to give Bob more possessions and reward him for a quest well done. A voice from the game gods boomed in my ears. б░Inventory is fullб▒ was the message. Bob would not be able to receive the quest rewards until he eliminated some of his hard earned loot. I opened his loot bag (this again was explained in the excellent WoW manual) and saw that all 16 squares (slots as the book calls them) were full of valuable prizes. Rotten carcasses and cloth belts, moldy cheese and stale bread were all picked up during Bobбпs brief stay in Shadowglen. Now I was under pressure to pick one of these objects and get rid of it. That moldy cheese really looked delicious but I guess the stale bread could go. I clicked on the bread and drug it out of the bag. I released the bread and it went back into the bag. I cursed under my breath. Why you *#$! (interpreted: rotten) stale bread I donбпt want you anymore. Again I repeated the procedure and again the bread returned to Mean Bobбпs pouch. Again I cursed. It would take several more times until I finally received the message иC Do you REALLY want to get world of warcraft gold rid of this fine food item?? (or something like that). Yes, I shouted, I REALLY want to get rid of that fine food item!!! It disappeared into the nether. I again talked with Conservator Iithalaine and this time received Bobбпs maplestory mesosrewards and next assignment. He was given a Verdant Sigil. Now for all of us uninitiated fledgling druids a sigil is a device that has occult powers. This item looked like a rock and on it was a mysterious inscription written in green. A long look in the dictionary told me that verdant means covered in green vegetation. I was now reluctant to have Bob touch that thing, but he did and received a congratulatory message about how it was great to have him aboard. It also asked him to come see a druid trainer named Mardant Strongoak. This particular elf was located all the way up on top of Aldrassil. Aldrassil is, of course, the huge building that Bob saw when he first came to Shadowglen. maple story mesos Bob approached the maple story mesos building and went into the main entrance. All kinds of elves wow goldwere there. Some even had exclamation marks for more quests. Bob would talk to them soon enough but Bob needed to get to Strongoak. Looking around Bob noticed some stairs and up he went. No Strongoak. Another set of stairs and again no Strongoak. Where in the world is that blasted druid trainer anyhow. Going back down the stairs, Bob decided to ask for directions. (He doesnбпt have male ego issues and besides she looked kinda cute.) Bob discovered that buy wow goldshe was a merchant selling food items. Nothing looked good but Bob also noticed a buyback option. Clicking on it Bob discovered that she would buy items that Bob had in his knapsack. It was great to see money exchanged and Bob was now worth бн 53 copper coins!!! Bobбпs chest protruded out in pride knowing that he was rich. The cute looking merchant elf though didnбпt have any clue as to where Mardant Strongoak was, at least she didnбпt tell Bob. Bob walked back out side of Aldrassil and looked around and noticed a ramp on the left side of the main entrance. Curious, Bob ran up the ramp. Bob ran everywhere. The ramp made a sharp right turn and Bob proceeded to continue to climb up the giant tree known as Aldrassil. Toward the top of the tree was a hollowed out room. In the room was the elf Bob had been looking for. Druid Trainer Mardant Strongoak stood by another elf, a hunter trainer, and invited Bob in. Talking with the trainer, Bob discovered that he would eventually end up in an Emerald Dream and hibernate there. (Wonder what that is???) He would also be able to train Bob in his druidic pursuits. Now weбпre getting somewhere. There was a боtrain meбп option and I decided to take it. For only 1 coin Bob could get a mark of the wild spell. Unfortunately it was a world of warcraft gold silver coin that Bob needed. Dejected (Bob didnбпt feel so rich now) Mean Bob went out to capture more loot. He ran out of the room, onto the walkway and over the railing. As Bob was falling to his doom, his short pitiful life flashed before his eyes. Luckily though there was a branch that could possibly break his fall. Unluckily Bob missed the branch. Luckily though there was a small pond, by the tall tree known as Aldrassil, that Bob might fall into. Unluckily Bob missed the pond. Just a few more inches to the right was all I could think about before Bob, again, ended up as a little blue sprite. Bob shook off the effects of the fall like a trooper. His health and mana were filled up in no time. Now off to the hunt. Before Bob actually made it to the nearest field he ran into Melithar Stagheim. Melithar wanted Bob to wow goldtalk with a dryad because she had a problem. Bob being a heroic sort couldnбпt refuse a dryad in distress. Bob found Tarindrella, the dryad Melithar told him about, in a field that was south of Aldrassil. She was a beautiful бн deer??? бн woman??? бн DRYAD! She had four legs, a bushy tail, a fawn-spotted rear end, long flowing green hair, golden vine tattoos encircling her arms and skimpy attire that barely covered her feminine features. She explained to our willing hero that the wicked Fell Moss world of warcraft gold had infected some of the creatures in the forest. Grell and Grelkins, who in times past lived peaceably with all the other woodland creatures, were those infected. She needed Bob to get that infection out of these poor hapless souls. But how? She explained to Bob that after you kill them you get the infection. Modern medicine might have a problem with that but then again бн The long, pointy eared Grelkin were bright orange and yellow. Their lightbulb white eyes definitely disclosed the malignant infection they housed in their small bodies. Their larger cousins, the Grells, were even worse. They sported blue vests on orange bodies, a clear indication that the infection had reached their fashion sense. There really was no choice, Bob would have to rid the woods of these atrocities. Bob spotted some Grells near a campfire further west and world of warcraft gold targeted one of the them. Bob made a quick inventory of his large assortment of spells. Wrath. At this time Bob accidentally trigger the spell. A blue bolt of magic shot from his arm and hit the unsuspecting Grell. WOW!!! (or WoW!!!) Know Your Lore: Sargeras Hard to believe that this friendly soul over to the right stabbing what appears to be an entire planet was once not just a good guy, but indeed, the goodest of the good guys, huh? (Goodest of the good guys? What, am I a drunken five year old all of a sudden? Sheesh, that's just horrible.) But it's true: the ultimate big bad guy in the Warcraft Universe, the ultimate evil, the guy who comes up with plans that involve possessing babies was once the champion of the Titans themselves, before he started stabbing planets and possessing babies. buy wow gold I guess there's no evil, be it big or small, that Sargeras won't engage in personally. He's a real hands on villain. So what's the deal with Sargeras, maplestory mesosexactly? How did he go bad? Why did he assemble cheap wow goldthe Burning Legion in the first place? And what's he up to nowadays? With the Legion running around being killed for loot and Marks of Sargeras in Outland (seriously, what is the big plan for Outland, exactly? So far all the Legion seems to be doing is being mad at Illidan because he promised to be Kil'Jaeden's BFF and then went back on it. Did they pinky swear? I bet they pinky swore. That seems like the kind of thing Kil'Jaeden would do) you'd think ol' Sargy would be in the thick of it, but instead his sidekicks are running the show and he's nowhere to be found. Why? It doesn't help that some of Sargeras' history has changed in the telling. (Hey, I like the Draenei a lot, but you guys really changed the lore around.) Well, you may have a hard time believing this, but it turns out that his whole baby world of warcraft goldpossession scheme wasn't such a good idea after all. I know, I know, how could picking on an infant have gone so horribly wrong? But rather than dwelling on that, why don't we start talking about Sargeras' early days. In the beginning, Sargeras was just one of the many who made up the host of the Titans. For whatever reason, when the universe was young and still messy with icky chaos, the Titans got together and decided that they needed to organize the whole deal a bit, or otherwise no one was buy wow goldever going to be able to find anything. (This may not have been the entirety of their thinking, as the Titans are notorious for not explaining maplestory mesosthemselves.) Unfortunately, the critters that lived in the Twisting Nether weren't too keen on the Titans and their plans, and so as the Titans went about their business they had to deal with various demonic entities and evil influences. For instance, on Azeroth they had to deal with the Old Gods before they could start arranging the world to their liking... it's very hard to decorate a place with slathering abhorrent tentacles monstrosities everywhere, you see, always making it hard to dredge this ocean floor or place that mountain chain. Because they wowgoldwere running into these sorts of delays, the Titans decided they needed to appoint someone to be their Champion, to in effect do unto them before they could do unto the various worlds the Titans had worked so hard to bring order to. And of all of their Pantheon, Sargeras was the one considered best suited for this job. It's unclear why, after countless years Sargeras started to have world of warcraft golddoubts. It might just be because it was so long with no sign of an end to it. After all, nobody wants to have to do the same thing forever. It could have been arguments with his fellow Titans in the Pantheon: Eonar, for one, was said to have disliked him personally and to have feuded cheap wow goldwth him. It could have been exposure to the Nathrezim and their unique brand of malice and corrupting influence. All we know is that Sargeras, once the greatest defender of order, began to go totally insane. Unfortunately, while the Titans are great proponents of order they do not appear to have been proponents of interventions, because as Sargeras descended into madness " Even Sargeras' titanic form became distorted from the corruption that plagued his once-noble heart. His eyes, hair, and beard erupted in fire, and his metallic bronze skin split open to reveal an endless furnace of blistering hate." And as you might expect, as their fellow Titan cracked open from within, burning on his own hate the rest of the Pantheon took the appropriate action and... didn't do jack. Yeah, I don't get it either. Aman'Thul is the Highfather of the Pantheon and the leader of the entire host of Titans, and when his brother goes insane and decides to destroy everything that exists he decides the best course of action is to do diddly squat about it. These are guys who, if you leave your planet a little messy and occasionally allow festering elemental fury to overwhelm the wow moneysurface of the world, they'll drop everything to show up on your doorstep and imprison you in the core of the world, but when one of their own decides he's had enough of tidying up and wants to burn everything down, they're suddenly all keen on waiting and seeing. Then again, if my little brother got so mad at me that he actually maplestory cracked open and burned, I might be a little hesitant to try and talk him down, too. Anyway, Sargeras was out of a job, and he decided that instead of defending order it would be better to wipe the entire universe clean because that way, the supposed 'chaos and depravity' Sargeras saw as the only constants in the universe would be free. It's a good thing Sargeras didn't have a livejournal, as I bet it would have had world of warcraftsome really awful 'you don't understand my pain' poetry on it. Sargeras first cracked open the prison he'd jammed the Nathrezim into, recruiting the Dreadlords for his army, and then started looking around the universe for servants skilled enough to help kill everything. Supposedly, they eventually settled on a race wowgoldknown as the Eredar who lived on a world called buy World of Warcraft GoldArgus. The Eredar were naturally talented with magic, and Sargeras offered to share his own enormous power and knowledge with them if they would become his servants. Two of the best and brightest among the Eredar, Kil'Jaeden and Archimonde, went for the deal, but their friend Velen didn't trust Sargeras for some odd reason. Some people are so paranoid. I mean, okay, Sargeras was constantly burning from within in an inferno powered by his own hate, but you'd think Velen could have given him the benefit of the doubt the way Archie and Killy did. Anyway, Velen and everyone he could convince to join him legged it off of Argus and the remaining Eredar became the thralls of Sargeras' new Burning Legion. (Note: If you look at these pages on the World of Warcraft site, world of warcraft goldyou'll see a slightly different version of these events. In the older version, the Eredar were always bad guys, but that got changed when it was decided to offer Draenei as playable characters in The Burning Crusade. I just wanted to mention that in case someone who was familiar with the lore the way it used to be thought I'd forgotten.) Flash forward a few thousand years or so, and we come to the events of the War of the Ancients. Basically, a by now totally crazy and evil Sargeras notices the magical emanations of the Well of Eternity and decides to draw upon its power to create a portal to Azeroth large and powerful enough for him to use personally. I don't know how the Titans used to go from world to world (the Master's Glaive certainly argues that they have a means to step foot on the surface of a world without using the Well) but Sargeras seemed to both hunger for the magical power of the Well and to need it to help create a stable enough gateway for his own vast power to manifest fully on Azeroth. I have no idea if the other Titans also need this kind of portal to walk on planets and, if they did, who made the portals on Azeroth during the time of the old gods. Anyway, Sargeras quickly convinced Azshara to help him come forth into Azeroth (perhaps using mind control, perhaps just knowing how to appeal to her vanity and lust for self-aggrandizement, perhaps a little from each column) and it fell to a brave band of meddling time travelers and the greatest heroes in Night Elven history to help keep wow goldSargy from getting away with it. A whole lot of other stuff happened... dragons were betrayed by dragons, Ancient god-like beings fell, and the coolest orc ever actually hit Sargeras with a wooden axe and managed to hurt him just enough to keep him from getting through the portal into Azeroth. Forget Gorehowl, I want Brox's axe to drop in the Sunwell. Now, to Sargeras a little thing like a magical well exploding with enough force to crack a continent in half was more of an inconvenience than an actual defeat.... remember, the guy stabs planets... so he immediately went to work on another plan. You know the one: possess Aegwynn and from there her as-then- unborn son Medivh. From there we get the whole sordid saga maplestory of Warcraft I and II, as it was Sargeras in Medivh who helped open the Dark Portal and usher the old Horde (created by his lieutenant Kil'Jaeden as part of a plan to get revenge on the long-lost Draenei and their leader Velen) Of course, this plan leaves us with many questions... if Sargeras could not enter Azeroth in his physical form 9000 years before during the War of the Ancients, why was he able to do so in order to possess Aegwynn? If he didn't actually enter Azeroth in his own body, then whose body was he using, and what happened to his original one? When Medivh died Sargeras was said to have been exiled to the Twisting Nether, but if that's so did he stay there when Medivh somehow came back from the dead? And why would Sargeras even come up with a plan that required him to die and end up in a baby? Even if the baby did grow up to have a neat beard and a most excellent stick. So now, here we are at the present maple story mesos day. Sargeras is either dead or banished to the Twisted Nether and hasn't been heard from since Medivh died that one time before he totally got better and showed up in Warcraft III. Archimonde is also dead, leaving Kil'Jaeden happy to be the only guy in charge of the Burning Legion, at least up until 25 incredibly well geared heroes kill him when the Sunwell Plateau wow goldinstance drops. I doubt we've heard the last of Sargeras, though. For one thing, once we we get through all the Wrath of the Lich King content, what's waiting for us at level 90? I would not be surprised if it was our old friend Sargeras himself. After all, there was something in the Tomb of Sargeras (where Aegwynn buried the 'body' she defeated when Sargeras possessed her) so awful that it killed Gul'dan himself, not to mention an artifact so potent that Illidan sought it out. Who knows if Sargeras himself lies in the cold dark beneath the surface of Suramar, growing in power as his discarded shell regrows? Well, maybe, anyway. At any rate, that's this week's exceedingly irreverent look at the biggest baddie in Warcraft lore. World of Warcraft: Races Thousands of years ago, the exiled Highborne landed on the shores of Lordaeron and founded the enchanted kingdom of Quel'Thalas. These high elves, as they called themselves, created a fount of vast, magical energies within the heart of their land - the Sunwell. Over time, they grew dependant on the Sunwell's unstable energies - regardless of the bitter lessons they'd learned in ages past. During the Third War, the villainous Prince Arthas invaded Quel'Thalas and reduced the once-mighty realm to rubble and ashes. His undead army decimated nearly ninety percent of the high elven population. In addition, he used the Sunwell's energies to resurrect Kel'thuzad - a powerful World of Warcraft Gold undead Lich - thereby fouling the Sunwell's mystical waters. The few elven survivors, realizing that they had been cut off from the source of their arcane power, grew increasingly volatile and buy wow gold desperate. In the midst of the elves' darkest hour came Kael'thas Sunstrider - the last of Quel'Thalas' royal bloodline. Kael, as he was commonly known, knew that the remnant of his people would not long survive without the nourishing magics that once empowered them. Renaming his people blood elves, in honor of their fallen countrymen, he taught them how to tap into ambient mystical energies - even demonic energies - in order to sate their terrible thirst for magic. In search of a new destiny for his people, Kael'thas ventured to the remote world of Outland where he encountered the fallen night elf, Illidan. Under Illidan's tutelage, wow gold Kael and his blood elves have regained much of their former power. Draenei The Draenei were a very intelligent cheap wow gold race and had an affinity for magic. Using these gifts, they created an impressive society. However, the Draenei's acomplishments caught the attention of Sargeras, The Destroyer of Worlds, and he was recruiting his legion that is the Burning Crusade. He believed the Draenei would help him in his conquest of eliminating all life in the cosmos. He contacted the three most prominent leaders, Kil'jaeden, Archimonde, and Velen. He offer untold power in exchange for the loyalty to him. Although the offer sounded very tempting, Velen had a vision of the future that filled him with sick dread. Sargeras had spoken the truth: World of Warcraft Gold the eredar who joined the Dark Titan would indeed gain enormous power and knowledge. However, the eredar would themselves be transformed into demons. Velen saw the Legion in all its terrible might and witnessed the destruction it would wreak upon all of creation. He hastened to warn Kil'jaeden and Archimonde, but they dismissed his concerns, for they had been enticed by Sargeras' promises. Dwarves The stoic dwarves of Ironforge are an ancient race of robust humanoids who live beneath the snow-capped mountains of Khaz Modan. The Dwarves have always been fast allies with the Humans, and they revel in the prospects of battle and storytelling alike. In past ages, the Dwarves rarely left the safety of their mountain fortresses. However, whenever the call to battle sounded, they rose up to defend their friends and allies with unmatched courage and valor. Due to a recent discovery that uncovered fragments of their ancient origins, the Dwarves have undergone a remarkable wowgold transformation. The discovery convinced the Dwarves that the mighty Titans created them from stone when the world was young. They feel that their destiny is now to search the world over for more signs and proof of their enchanted heritage and to rediscover the Titans' hidden legacies. To this end, the Dwarves have sent out their Prospectors to all ends of the world in the hopes of discovering new insight into their shrouded past. These journeys led to Dwarven excavation sites all over the known world, some of which serve as outposts and some of which serve as potential hunting grounds for enemies of the Dwarven race. Start Location: Anvil Marr, Dun Morogh Home City: Ironforge Gnomes The eccentric, often-brilliant Gnomes wow money are one of the most peculiar races of the world. With their obsession for developing radical new technologies and constructing marvels of mind-bending engineering, it's a wonder that any Gnomes have survived to proliferate. Thriving within the wondrous techno-city of Gnomeregan, the Gnomes shared the resources of the forested Dun Morogh Peaks with their Dwarven cousins. Though the dwarves of Ironforge also have a propensity for technology and World of Warcraft Gold engineering - it is the gnomes who provide the critical, visionary designs for most of the Dwarves' weapons and steam vehicles. The Gnomes served the Alliance well during the Second War, but strangely, they refused to send any personnel to aid their allies during the Burning Legion's recent invasion. Though their designs helped turn the tide against the Legion, the Dwarves and Humans were shocked by the Gnomes' decision to withhold their courageous troops and pilots. When the war ended, the Alliance discovered the reason for the Gnomes' sudden withdrawal. Apparently, an ancient, barbaric menace had risen from the bowels of the earth and invaded Gnomeregan. Knowing that their allies' priority was defeating the Burning Legion, the Gnomes decided to make their stand alone. Though they fought valiantly to save their beloved city, Gnomeregan was irrevocably lost. Nearly half of the Gnomish race was wiped out during the fall of Gnomeregan. The ragged Gnomes that survived fled to the safety of the Dwarves' stronghold of Ironforge. Committed once again to the Alliance's cause, the Gnomes spend their time devising strategies and weapons that will help them retake their ravaged city and build a brighter future for their people. Start Location: Anvil Marr, Dun Morogh Home City: Ironforge Humans The Humans of Stormwind are a resilient breed, having survived an invasion by the savage Orcs during the First War. During the Second War, the armies of Stormwind rallied with the Alliance to reclaim their homeland of Azeroth. After the success of the Second War, Stormwind was rebuilt and Human civilization began to flourish once again throughout the southlands. With the recent invasion of the Burning wowgold Legion - which left the northern kingdom of Lordaeron in ruins - Stormwind now stands as the last bastion of human civilization. Following the heroic examples of the legendary Sir Lothar and King Llane, the defenders of Stormwind are considered to be among the fiercest warriors in the land. They stand resolute in their charge to maintain the honor and might of humanity in an ever-darkening world. Start Location: Northshire, Elwynn Home City: Stormwind Night Elves The reclusive Night Elves were the first race to awaken in the World of Warcraft. These shadowy, immortal beings were the first to study magic and let it loose throughout the world nearly ten thousand years before Warcraft I. buy wow gold The Night Elves' reckless use of magic drew the Burning Legion into the world and led to a catastrophic war between the two titanic races. The Night Elves barely managed to banish the Legion from the world, but their wondrous homeland was shattered and drowned by the sea. As a race, Night Elves are typically honorable and just, but they are very distrusting of the 'lesser races' of the world. They are nocturnal by nature and their shadowy powers often elicit the same distrust that they have for their mortal neighbors. Start Location: Teldrassil Home City: Darnassus Orcs The savage, green-skinned Orcs are one of the most prolific races of Azeroth. They are commonly believed to be brutal and mindless, possessing no humanity or empathy for other races. Born on the hellish world of Draenor, the Orcs were brought into the kingdom of Stormwind through the dimensional gateway known as the Dark Portal and forced to wage war on the Humans. Although few are aware of their history, the Orcs once cultivated a noble, Shamanistic society on the world of Draenor. Tragically, the proud Orc clans were corrupted by the Burning Legion and used as pawns in the Legion's invasion of Azeroth. The Orcs managed to rebel, however, and they were ultimately able to help turn the tide against their demon masters. Led by the young Warchief, Thrall, the Orcs have reclaimed their strength and honor. Now, the Orcs stand ready to fight not for the sake of conquest, but for their right to survive in their adopted world. Start Location: Valley of Trials, Durotar Home City: Orgrimmar Tauren The Tauren are huge, bestial creatures who live in the grassy, open barrens of central Kalimdor. They live to serve nature and maintain the balance between the wild things of the land and the restless spirit of wow gold the elements. Despite their enormous size and brute strength, the remarkably peaceful Tauren cultivate a quiet, tribal society. However, when roused by conflict, Tauren are implacable enemies who will use every ounce of their strength to smash their enemies under hoof. Under the leadership of their ancient chief, Cairne Bloodhoof, the Tauren allied themselves with the Orcs during the invasion of the Burning Legion. The two races have remained steadfast allies ever since. Like the Orcs, the Tauren struggle to retain their sense of tradition and noble identity. Start Location: Redrock Mesa, Mulgore Home City: Thunder Bluff Trolls The vicious Jungle Trolls, who populate the numerous islands of the South Seas, are renowned for their cruelty and dark mysticism. Barbarous and superstitious, the wily Trolls carry a seething hatred for all other races. One tribe, however, was forced to overcome its prejudices when it buy wow gold encountered the Orc Warchief, Thrall, and his mighty Horde. The Trolls of the Darkspear tribe, long since exiled from their ancestral lands in Stranglethorn Vale, were nearly destroyed by a band of aquatic Murlocs, but Thrall and the Horde managed to save them. In return the grateful Trolls swore an oath of eternal allegiance to the Horde. Led by the cunning Shadow Hunter, Vol'jin, the Darkspear Trolls now make their home in Durotar along with their Orcish allies. Their village, named after their fallen tribal elder, Sen'jin, lies along the eastern coast of the harsh, rocky land. The Darkspear tribe also occupies tracks within the nearby jungles of the Echo Isles. As part of the Horde, the Trolls have extended their loyalty to the mighty Tauren, but they have little trust for the manipulative Forsaken, whom they believe will visit only misery and strife upon their allies.
